On December 17, 2025, with the support of co-organizers including the Japanese Commerce and Industry Club in Shanghai, the Japanese Commerce and Industry Club in Hangzhou, Japanese-affiliated banks (Mizuho Bank, Sumitomo Mitsui Banking Corporation, Mitsubishi UFJ Bank), and Japanese local governments operating in China (Ibaraki Prefecture, Kanagawa Prefecture, Aichi Prefecture, Fukuoka Prefecture, Osaka City, Yokohama City, Kobe City), the Shanghai Representative Office of the Japan External Trade Organization (JETRO) successfully held the third "Japan Jo!nting" roadshow event for Chinese companies targeting Japanese enterprises. The event focused on the health technology sector and was held both in Shanghai and online.
In his opening remarks, Mr. Shinya Amano, Director of JETRO Shanghai, stated: "Population aging is a common social challenge for both China and Japan. In Japan, the population aged 65 and above reached approximately 36 million in 2023, accounting for 29% of the total population. Public attention toward healthcare, nursing, and health management continues to grow." Deputy Director Daisuke Takamura introduced JETRO’s services in supporting Chinese companies’ investment in Japan and provided an overview of China's health technology landscape. JETRO is committed to building an ecosystem that facilitates domestic and international circulation, with a focus on supporting overseas companies that can contribute to solving Japan’s societal challenges—such as labor shortages and promoting digital transformation—through investment in Japan, thereby stimulating domestic innovation.
Addressing labor shortages and advancing digital transformation align with the core values and mission of Suzhou Univer Balloon Medical Technology Co., Ltd. During the sharing session, Ms. Lu Chen, Vice President of Strategic Development at Suzhou Univer Balloon Medical Technology Co., Ltd., delivered a presentation on AI applications in the manufacturing of implantable and interventional medical devices. The company’s offerings include high-precision balloon forming systems, water-jacket temperature control systems capable of maintaining the stretching temperature of polymer materials within ±2°C, laser welding technologies, and AI-based defect detection algorithms developed in-house. Notably, the AI detection solutions not only enhance product inspection efficiency for end-users and reduce rates of false and missed detections but also help transform technicians’ accumulated expertise into valuable digital assets.
Following the presentation, Suzhou Univer Balloon Medical Technology Co., Ltd engaged in active discussions with representatives from various Japanese regional organizations and medical sector agencies, culminating in the signing of a letter of intent for cooperation.
